Part of being an effective leader is learning how to leverage your strengths and overcome traits that don’t contribute to good leadership. Throughout the course, you will examine your strengths and learn ways to use them in a leadership role. You will learn to manage stress and solve problems creatively. Throughout the course, you will also build a toolkit of useful techniques that you can start using immediately in your engineering career. The course is designed for engineers who are interested in advancing into management and leadership roles. No leadership experience is necessary to succeed in this course. We ask you to consider your own personal experience often, so a little work experience can help you in this area, but we hope that much of what you learn here will be applicable to many areas of your life.

To be a successful engineer, you must know how to work and play well with others. This course focuses on developing the skills needed to build professional relationships and support networks. You will learn to coach and mentor others, manage conflict, and build power and influence in the workplace.
A leadership improvement plan that can be tailored to others allows you to capitalize on strengths and close gaps in weaknesses. In this course, you will build a personal plan that you can implement immediately and achieve goals over the next two years. This is the foundation for an ongoing process of selecting and prioritizing skills, and planning action for ongoing leadership development.
