You’ve probably heard the word action in the context of Monday automations, integrations, and apps. With the introduction of Monday Workflows, you may be wondering how actions are used when you build a Workflow and how they are priced.
The first part of this article will explain the topic in detail. The second part will teach you how to track and manage your account activities.

Pricing
Currently, Monday Workflows and all actions offered by the tool count towards automation action limits for your selected plan. Actions that use Monday Workflows will not count towards integration action limits, regardless of whether you use a third-party tool in your workflow or not.
Action is a key component of our pricing model. You can learn more about pricing by visiting the article “Automations and Integrations Pricing”.
What is an “action”?
Each block in a Workflow includes an activation and an action (or several actions). Let’s look at an example: “When state changes to something, delete the item”.
In this case, the trigger is “when state changes to something.” The action is “delete the item.” So, each time an item is deleted, one action is used. If you run this block three times, three items will be deleted, and that would count as three actions.
Operation limitations
Each account has an action limit:
- One for automations, Monday Workflows and apps
- One for integrations
When you build a Workflow, the actions you use will only count towards your automation limit. This is true regardless of whether your Workflow block talks to an external tool or not.
Example of an action limit: Standard plan
There is a limit of 250 automation actions per month for the Standard plan. If an account exceeds its quota of actions during the month, any additional actions used beyond 250 will be deducted from the following month’s quota. For example, if 280 automation actions were performed in April, then 220 automation actions will be available in May.
You can check if you’re approaching your limit on your account usage page. For more information, see the “Tracking and controlling your actions” section of this article.
To know more about this, read the “Exception from your actions” section of this article.
To know more about the specific action limit for your account, see the pricing position .
How many actions does one Workflow use?
There is a lot of variation in Workflows. Generally, the more blocks you create, the more actions you will use. Some blocks will result in the use of multiple actions each time they run. For example:
- Notifications – One action is used on each person who receives a notification.
- Sending an email – One action is used on each email sent.
- Recurring tasks – One action is used each time the task is completed. Example: Every time period, create an item. Each time an item is created, one action is used.
Exception to your actions
When you approach your limits
If you are on track to exceed your action limit, the administrator will receive a warning email when the actions used in the month reach X % of the total available actions .
When you exceed your limit
If your account reaches the point where you have already used all of the current month’s actions, the account will be blocked from editing or adding new blocks to Monday Workflow, Automations, and Apps.
In this case, we recommend upgrading. To learn more about which plan is right for you, check out our article on automation and integration pricing.
Monitoring and controlling operations
As mentioned in the previous section, the administrator will receive an email notification when the account is approaching its transaction limit.
However, you can track the number of actions your account is using at any given time. To see your action usage, go to any board and click the Automate button to open the Automation Center. From there, click the Usage tab, where you can see the number of available actions being used by your account.
You can switch between automations and integrations to see how many actions you have left for each one separately.
