Using Conditional Coloring on monday.com
With conditional colors, you can easily add colors to cells that meet criteria you define, to highlight or differentiate the data on your board. In this article, we’ll discuss how conditional colors on monday.com work. Let’s get started!
How to locate the tool
You will find the conditional color tools at the top of your board by clicking on the three-dot menu and then the color bin icon as shown below. Clicking on it will open the menu where you can start selecting your criteria as well as colors.

Choose a color
Similar to groups and status labels, you can choose the color for your conditional colors. And there are many colors to choose from! Choose the color you want to use to highlight your data based on the parameters you set.

Choose your criteria
Selecting your criteria is simple. First, if you want to highlight a specific cell or an entire row (item). Then, select the column from your board, the condition, and enter the value. The value can be text or a number. Press Enter and your formatting will be applied.

Adding and deleting criteria
You can easily add and delete criteria! To add a criterion, select “+ Add criterion” at the bottom of the conditional colors menu. To delete a criterion, click the “x” to the right of the criterion you want to delete.

Save for new view
Save your conditional colors to a new view by setting your criteria and then selecting the “Save as New View” button in the top right corner of the menu:

Overlapping criteria
If you add multiple criteria, all criteria will apply. You cannot yet choose to apply one or the other.
If you select two criteria that cover overlapping data, the last rule you use will replace the first. For example, if you add the following rule:
