Update Feed on monday.com: Tracking changes and comments
Tip: If you find yourself responding to updates a lot, try using keyboard shortcuts to streamline the process. For example, pressing “R” will open the comment box instantly!

The Update Feed is where you can see all of your new updates. From boards and items you’re subscribed to, to updates that directly mention you or your team! Instead of checking each of your boards to see what’s new, you can simply check your Update Feed and see everything in one place. This is a great way to make sure you’re up to date with all the important changes and correspondence within your account!

How to use your news feed

No matter what you’re working on in your account, you’ll always see the Small Feed icon in the top toolbar of your screen. Above the Feed icon, you’ll see a small number representing the number of new updates in your feed.

  • Back up or reply to an update

You can easily comment or reply to a post, right there in the feed! To reply, click the “Reply” button in the bottom right corner of the post and type your response in the text box. To respond, tap the “Like” button and choose from a wide variety of emojis.

Tip: Instead of clearing updates one by one, you can also easily clear all updates at once by selecting “Mark all updates as read” in the top right corner of your news feed.
  • Undo the last close

When you click the tick next to an update, you “close” it, removing it from your feed. Once it’s closed, a green arrow appears at the top of the screen. If you click the green arrow, you can undo the last closed update, and go back to it in the feed! This will only apply to the most recent update , not any other updates that were closed before.

  • Mark an update as a favorite

If you want to save a feed for later, click the arrow in the top right corner of the feed to open its menu and click “Mark as Favorite.” From this menu, you can also copy the link, delete it, share it, or edit it (if it’s yours)!

Quickly clean up your news feed

If you’re subscribed to a board you want to follow, but don’t need to check all its updates? Click the three dots next to a board in the left-hand sidebar and select “Close All” to close all updates from that board! This is not permanent, so as long as you remain subscribed to that board, you’ll continue to receive updates.

The difference between the news feed and bell notifications

On the left side panel of your screen, there are two places to stay up to date with important things within your account:

  1. News feed
  2. Bell notifications

Each of the messages serves a specific purpose.

  • News feed

What is the news feed?

Whenever a new update is added to one of your subscribed boards, you’ll see the update appear in your feed. An “update” refers to a new post in the updates section of an item. Even if you or your team aren’t mentioned in the update, you’ll still see it in your feed! Think of it as a newsfeed that keeps you up to date with all the updates on your subscribed boards, even if they’re not particularly relevant to you or your team.

  • Bell notifications

What is the bell?

You get a notification in your Bell Notification Center whenever something happens on your account that’s particularly relevant to you. This includes replies to your posts, being ‘@’ mentioned by a team member, and assignments in the People column on a board, as well as more! Check out this article to learn more about your Bell Notifications!
