Prepare yourself for a career in the growing field of IT project management. In this program, you will develop the skills and tools that will put you at an advantage in the job market as an entry-level IT project manager in less than 3 months. No prior knowledge or experience is required.
IT project managers track projects, manage risks, and work cross-functionally to support an organization’s IT infrastructure and software development. IT project managers often act as a liaison between business and technical functions to drive high-impact projects to successful completion.
You will learn essential skills used by professional project managers, including project planning and management, effective communication and leadership techniques, agile methodologies, and gain a deep understanding of the concepts, tools, and language of project management. In addition to these essential skills, you will receive basic technical training in hardware, operating systems, software, cyber, and cloud computing. You will also practice fundamental principles of software engineering, the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), tools, technologies, and software stacks that will support your success as an IT project manager.
When you complete the full program, you’ll gain access to career support resources to help you with your job search, and you’ll receive a professional certificate from IBM to showcase your qualifications to potential employers.
Applied Learning Project
During the IT Project Management Professional Certificate, we will apply project management theory to real-world situations. This program includes extensive instructional content as well as hands-on exercises and realistic projects designed to develop your skills.
Each course will have exercises to practice what you have learned. From building timelines, tracking issues, to establishing a communication plan, we will provide you with real-world situations that you may encounter in your work as an IT project coach. The final course in the series is the Capstone course, designed for learners who have completed all courses in the program. It gives the learner an opportunity to showcase their overall knowledge of project management.
By completing the program and the capstone course, learners will be well-prepared to present their skills in interviews and prepare for work as entry-level project managers in the IT field.
