Private boards are designed to be visible only to the user and anyone they choose to invite to the board. This is great when you want to create a project, to-do list, or plan before committing it to your team.

Some facts about private boards
- All items on the private board are private and visible and available for use by subscribers of that private board.
- Only the owner of the private board can add subscribers to the board.
- They are not searchable, meaning they will not appear in search results.
- If you are an admin and want to export the account data, it will also export all the account’s private boards. This means that admins have access to private boards when they export all the account data.
- The owner of the private board can share it with other members of their account by clicking “Invite” at the top of the board.

Request access to a private board
If you encounter a private board that you do not have access to, you will see the error message below indicating that the board is private and that you cannot access it at this time. To request immediate access to the private board, you can click the blue “Request Access” button below:

Clicking this button will send a message to all owner(s) of this private board, indicating that you have requested access. By clicking the message, the board owners will be redirected to the subscriptions page to grant you access to this private board if they choose to do so.
Change the board type
As the board owner, you can change your board from Private to Shareable or Main. Simply click the three-dot menu in the top right of your board and select “Board Settings.” From there, click “Change Board Type” and then select the board type you want to change.
