Performance Insights on monday.com: Analysis and Tracking
Note:If you’re working on a project with many phases, try setting up a performance insights view for each phase separately. This will help you identify bottlenecks in the process.

Looking to track your and your team’s performance on certain projects? Wouldn’t it be great to be able to track how long the creation phase took compared to the production phase, or how long it took to close your sales deal? With our Performance Insights View, you can now track how long your items were in a certain state or stage and analyze your productivity much better!

How does it work?

Once you’ve set up your Performance Insights view (see how below), you can track and weigh the time you spent in specific modes over any given period of time. The duration information will be pulled from the Activity Log on your dashboard. If there was no change in status in the journal during the selected period, the information displayed will be based on the item’s status tag from the start of the period to the end of the period (i.e., now).

When analyzing your graph, be sure to look at the status tag you’re interested in to understand how much time was spent on it. For example, if you’re interested in seeing how much time was spent working on a project before it was completed, you’ll need to look at the “Working” status tag, not “Completed.” Group 67 (14).png

How to adjust it?

Step 1: Select the status column to be measured

Click on the settings icon in the top right corner of the screen. Here you can choose which status column you want to measure. If you are interested in knowing how long your projects are at a certain stage in the process, at a certain priority, or anything else.

Step 2: Select the time period you are interested in

This refers to the time period you want to analyze and compare. For example, if you want to see how much time was spent on each stage of your project over the past month, and compare it to the previous month, select “Month.” Group 63 (11).png

Step 3: Select the calculation type

Here you can decide whether you want to see the average time spent on the situation or the cumulative time spent. Group 64 (10).png

Step 4: Select the Y-axis position unit

If you want to see the average or cumulative value in weeks, days, hours, or minutes, you can set this here to suit your needs. We are interested in seeing the average number of days spent on a specific situation, so we selected “days.” Group 65 (9).png

Step 6: Get an in-depth analysis of your data

If you want to take a closer look at the data and get a more focused picture, you can temporarily remove irrelevant tags from the graph, simply by clicking on the status tag itself (at the bottom of the view), to reduce noise. Let’s say we want to see all status tags except “Stuck”. Group 65 (10).png

To remove comparison data or the delta option, simply click on the tag itself (at the top of the view) and it will also be temporarily removed. Group 65 (11).png

Refine your graph even further

You can filter directly on your chart using the dashboard filters. This is a great way to display the exact information you need. Let’s say we want to see only the tasks on my board from the “Current” group that are categorized as high and medium priority. By selecting the relevant groups, names, or any other tag, the filter will narrow down all related items and display only those. Group 63 (12).png

You can also access more advanced and narrower filters from this drop-down menu. Simply click “Switch to advanced filters” as shown below: Group 63 (13).png

You can switch between “Quick Filters” and “Advanced Filters” using the button at the bottom of the filter menu.

Display settings

You can choose whether you want your graph to be in full view or split view. If you choose split view, you can see the graph and the board itself in the same view, as shown below: Group 63 (14).png
