Do you have a workflow with multiple boards that you want to restore to your account? Want to keep all boards created from that template in sync as changes are made? Our managed template feature allows process builders to better manage institutionalized workflows at scale.
Creating a template from a job will serve as a “master” template and all new jobs created from that template (known as “sub-templates”) will receive updates made in the managed template to keep all related workflows in sync.

How does it work?
To create a managed template with subtemplates from institutions, follow these steps:
- Set up a workplace as a managed template: Select or create a workspace that contains your desired content (boards, dashboards, workdocs, etc.) to use as a template. The boards within this workspace You will be able to send Updates To all the boards created from it .
- Create sub-tables: Add the content from the template to any workspace across your account. Boards created from this template will receive Updates to the managed workplace as soon as they are published.
- Post updates made: Workplace owners will be able to publish Changes made to the board to Related boards additional Using the “Publish” button.
To make a workplace a managed template, click the three-dot menu next to the workplace name and click “Save as Template.”

Your workspace will now move to the template center.

What changes are being made?
While we are constantly working on adding more capabilities to the managed templates feature, currently the following updates or changes will be pushed in a managed panel to its subpanels as soon as you click the “Publish Changes” button:
- New columns added
- New groups added
- New items and sub-items added
- Status column settings changes
- List column settings changes
New columns added
Every time you add a new column to your board and publish the changes, the new columns you added will be moved to the subboards.

New groups added
When you add new groups to your managed template and publish the changes, the new group will also be added to the sub-panels.

New items and sub-items added
When you add new items and sub-items For your managed template, they will be transferred to your sub-panels after clicking “Publish Changes”.

Status column and list settings changes
Any changes you make to the column settings The situation Inside a managed template board will sync after publishing, including:
- Adding new labels
- Change the text and color of labels
- Setting the status to “Done”
- Column description and name

Set up a managed template
To set up a managed template, start by opening a workspace from the left panel. From the three-dot menu next to the workspace name, select “Save as Template.” From the screen that appears, select “Managed Template,” then click the blue “Save as Template” button to continue. 
You can identify any workplace selected as a managed template by the crown icon at the bottom right of the workplace icon as shown below:

Create sub-tables
To create sub-panels from working with the template, open the left panel, click the blue plus sign, then “Choose from templates.”

From the Template Center, either search for the workplace name in the template, or search for it in the “Templates created in your account” section and click on it. Once you’ve selected the workplace template, click the blue “Use managed template” button to add it to your account.
You can also click the down arrow to the right of the “Use Managed Template” button to add the template to an existing workspace (like a folder full of content from your template), or create an entire new workspace where it will fit!
Once you’ve completed this step, you’ll see a new workspace (or portfolio) added to your account filled with the same boards, dashboards, workdocs, and more just like the original template offers!
Publish changes to the template
After updating your board, you can continue to publish the changes you made! By doing so, the original template created will be updated with the changes made, and the subboards will receive the relevant changes.
To post changes, all you need to do is click the “Post Changes” button in the top right corner of your board and then the blue “Post Changes” button again. When you hover over the first “Post Changes” button, you’ll see who last posted changes to the workplace template and when.

When publishing changes to a template, it is important to ensure that all changes made throughout that work are preserved in the template.
When changes to a template are published , it will publish all new changes added throughout per Tables included in the managed template. That is, All sub-tables from a template will receive new columns added in their respective tables , not just the specific tables where “Publish Changes” was selected.
View all sub-panels
From the top row of any managed template, you can easily view and access all the boards created from it with the click of a button! All you need to do is click the “Subboards” button at the top of your screen, and then you will see a list of all connected subboards and the latest publishing status for each of them.
Additionally, by clicking on the name of any sub-board listed here, you can jump immediately to that sub-board without having to search for it through your account!

Create boards with automations
You can set up a custom automation to trigger the creation of a new subpanel from one of your templates. The automation will run when the specified condition is met, and a subpanel will be created from the selected managed template.
For example, let’s say you work in HR. You can set up an automation that runs every time a candidate is hired, and the training schedule will be created a week before the employee’s start date.
