If you’ve ever wanted to understand more about your automations, the Automation Activity Log is the place for you. With the Automation Activity Log, you can understand how your automations are working and where they might be getting stuck. ✨
What is this?
If your automation didn’t succeed, the Automation Activity Log is a great place to start. When an automation is running, you can track each action or result in the Activity Log. This log will show you whether the automation was successful or not. If it was successful, the log will provide you with insight into when the automation ran.
Opening the diary
There are three ways to view your automation activity log. You can see all automation actions on your board, all actions for a specific automation recipe, or all automation actions on a specific item.
Calendar for the board
To access the activity log for the entire board, go to the Automations Center. To open the Automations Center, navigate to the top of the board and click the word “Automations”:

Then, click on the “Board automations” tab:

Then on the “Activity log” button:

From there, you’ll see a list of all the automations that have run on your board. The list will show the date and time the automation ran and whether the automation is still in progress, failed, or succeeded. To get more details, open the drop-down menu by clicking the down arrow on the right:

If you see “In progress” next to your automation, it indicates that the automation is busy and the action may take some time. When you see “Failure” next to the automation, it indicates that the automation failed. A suggestion will appear, highlighted in red below the failed automation, on how to fix the issue. You can also follow our initial troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
By hovering over the “cog” icon that appears in your activity log, you can see the number of actions generated by this automation, to help understand which actions are invoiced.

Log for selected automation
To see all activities related to a particular recipe, go to your board’s automations:

Select the “Board automations” tab:

Navigate to the recipe you want to view and click the three-dot menu. From the menu, select “Automation Activity”:

This view will give you insights into the activity associated with this automation. You’ll see every instance, including the date and time, when the automation ran. The log also shows whether the automation ran successfully or not. If the automation failed, you can see which element of the automation caused the problem.
In this example, there was a connection error between monday and Slack:

Log for a single item
To access the automation activity log from an item:
- Select the item and open the dialog window,
- Open the “Activity Log” tab,
- And click the “Automation Activity” button.

This will open the board’s automation activity log. There you’ll see a list of all the automations that have run on your board.
If you want to see which automations have run for this item, scroll through the “Activity Log” tab and look for the monday icon:

Log filters
The automation activity log includes several filters for easier navigation. Depending on how you browse your automation activity log, you may see different filter options. The filters are always located directly above the activity list:
