A group is a color-coded section on your board that contains your items (rows) and helps you categorize and organize them in any way you want. When you create a board, you need to create your groups. A group can represent anything from a week, a month, a specific stage of a project, a client, or anything you want!
This article covers everything you can do with a group.

Add a new group
By default, your board will always contain at least one group. You can add as many groups as you want! Here are a few different ways to add a new group:
- Click the blue “New Item” button at the top left of your board and select “New Item Group.” A new group will be added to the top of your board, and you can rename and edit it as you wish.

- Hover over the title of any existing group, click the three-dot menu that appears to the left of it, and select “Add Group.”

- Finally, you can also add a new group to the bottom of your board by clicking “Add New Group” below the end group on your board!

Group matching
Once your group is created, you can change its name and color at any time. It’s that simple! Just click the three-dot menu to the left of your group title and then select “Change Group Color.”

From there, you can choose from 18 different colors. You can also change your group name by simply clicking on the group name and typing in whatever you choose.

Group replication
If you need an exact copy of a group you have already created, you can simply duplicate the group, rather than creating it from scratch. By selecting “Duplicate Items”, your group and the items/columns within it will be duplicated. You can also duplicate the updates by selecting “Duplicate Items and Updates”.

Group folding
If you want to get an overview of all the groups on your board, you can collapse all your groups (or just one!). To collapse one group, click the small arrow to the left of the group name. To collapse all your groups, click the groups menu and select “Collapse all groups”. To expand your groups, simply click on any group!

If you have column summaries enabled, you can get a nice overview of them once the groups fold!

Moving a group
To easily move your groups around within your board, simply drag and drop them to rearrange them the way you want! This can be done with the groups folded or unfolded.

You can also move your group to another board by clicking “Move Group to Board” as shown below:

Deleting a group
If you would like to delete a group from your board, all you need to do is click on the three-dot menu to the left of the group name and then click on “Delete” as shown below.
