We are excited to announce the first launch of mondayDB, the new data infrastructure behind our WorkOS, built to improve your work. mondayDB scales to large, complex workloads, allowing you to build and manage workflows at scale, without being limited by performance limitations.
How does it work?
mondayDB is a new database architecture that gives you endless flexibility and adapts to your growing needs. In short, it was built from the ground up to support rapid scaling of boards and dashboards, extend our public API and data manipulation capabilities, and support countless new use cases and custom workflows.

Launch schedule
This is just the beginning! After our first mondayDB launch on June 23, 2023, you can expect the launch schedule to look like this for upcoming mondayDB features:

Programs are subject to change at monday.com’s sole discretion.
Capabilities that mondayDB provides
mondayDB provides a wealth of capabilities to help speed up your work and make using monday.com as smooth as possible. These include:
- Significant performance improvements : With the separate storage and compute layers in mondayDB, you can enjoy improved speed across billions of boards that support your growth and your most complex workflows.
- Elasticity at scale: mondayDB supports your unique needs and adapts to how you work best as you continue to add users, data tables, and query volume, with the ability to store, retrieve, and query any type of data.
- Ability to perform complex queries quickly: With mondayDB, because the data from boards is stored in both row and column databases, it can choose which queries to perform based on the required manipulation, leading to high query throughput and low latency across any combination of tables.
- Real-time data updates: In any board or dashboard, changes are immediately available for queries whenever they are made, allowing automations and integrations to run in real time.
- Endless Customization: mondayDB takes monday.com’s open API to a whole new level — cross-system linking, filters, aggregations, and formula calculations are now supported. This allows developers to build any app, solution, or software they need on top of the monday.com platform.
mondayDB on boards
With the new mondayDB engine in boards, you can enjoy a much faster board loading experience and smoother performance overall. It’s currently available to 100% of users across all board types!
mondayDB in dashboards
We are very excited to launch the next phase of mondayDB, the new data engine that powers our dashboards! With it, you will experience much faster and smoother performance of your dashboards.
Dashboards will now automatically upgrade to the new data engine, but you can also choose to revert to the previous dashboard engine if you wish. To do this, click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your dashboard and select “Revert to old dashboard engine” as shown below.

mondayDB on the API
In line with the mondayDB changes we made to the monday.com platform, we have also improved the data engine that powers our API to accommodate these improvements.
The mondayDB API launch schedule is below:
