The owner of the board is:
- The people who created the board
- All board subscribers who the board creator has chosen to own the board
But what if your board owner has left the team? You can still regain ownership of the board if you’re the account manager. Read on to learn more.
Add or remove board owners
If you are the owner of your board, you can add or remove other board owners by simply clicking on the crown icon next to the username to turn it blue to add them as an owner, or gray to remove them as an owner!
How to take ownership of suspended users’ boards
Has a user been suspended from your account and you need to access their boards? As an account administrator, you can definitely do it! With a few clicks, you can change ownership of all primary, private, and shareable boards. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner
- Select “Management”
- Click on “Users”
- Select the “Board Ownership” tab
- In the drop-down panels, select the current owner of the board and then the new owner of the board who will take ownership and click “Add New Owner”

Then, a pop-up will appear to confirm the change, click “Add as owner” to confirm or “No, let me go back” if you have any doubts.

How to manage boards without board owners
If you have lost a board and cannot find it in the archives and trash, you can use this function. It will assign a new owner to any private or shareable board that does not have a board owner.
- Click on your profile picture in the bottom left corner
- Select “Management”
- Click on “Users”
- Select the “Board Ownership” tab
Then, select your name from the drop-down menu and select “Add New Owner.”

This should allow you to access your dashboard again.
