Wondering how to track your team’s activity? The Activity Log is your answer. Stay up to date at all times by tracking changes to your boards in one place.
Find the board’s activity log
The board activity log shows all of the board’s past activity in one list! Here, you can see change dates, statuses, movement between groups, and much more!
To access your board’s activity log, click “Activity” in the top right corner of your board, as shown below:

How does it work?
The information displayed in the board’s activity log varies depending on the program you are in.
Each journal entry consists of this structure (from left to right):
- When did the change occur?
- Who made the change?
- The name of the item or group where the change occurred.
- The column where the change occurred
- Previous entry -> The new value
And here is an example:

Track your automations
You can also see changes made by the automations you’ve set up on your board! For example, here’s a list of the automations we use for this board:

Once an automation has been triggered, the board’s activity log is updated with the changes it was scheduled to make! The robot icon representing the automation appears where the person who made the change is shown, like below:

Track changes in permissions
You can also see changes to permissions on your board! For example, below you can see all the recent changes to the permission settings for this board:

Filtering the activity log
You can filter the board’s activity log to show only the updates you need to see right now! Simply click “Filter Log” and choose which filters you want to apply. You can filter by person, time, group, or column.

Last seen
A recently viewed log shows you who on your team last viewed your board and when, so you know who is up to date with your team’s workflow and how often they update. From your activity log, click the “Last Viewed” tab to activate that log, like we did here:

Item activity log
The item activity log keeps track of all updates made to an item! This log centralizes updates from one item, rather than everything like the board activity log. To open the log, simply select which item updates you want to see, then simply click anywhere in the first column of the item!

The item activity log allows you to see a complete history of activity related to updates to that item and where and when they occurred! All updates are organized with the most recent update at the top, then descending from newest to oldest updates.
Click the “Activity Log” tab in the updates window to see all the changes made to this item. The changes are displayed exactly like in the board activity log mentioned earlier in the article! The only difference is that here, you will only see updates related to this specific item.

The item activity log can also help you track when an item was created:
- Created
- Copied
- Deleted
- I will post
- Restored
Filter your item’s activity log
Sometimes the activity log for an item can be long and full of updates. If you are looking for something specific or only want to see certain updates, you can filter the list! You can filter by who made the change by clicking the People column icon, or use the Filter Log option! Simply click ‘Filter Log’ to open the options window. Now, you can choose filters like when the change was made and which column the change occurred in!

Activity log of subitems
Looking to track the various actions you and your team have taken on your board sub-items? We’ve created an activity log for your sub-items for this purpose!
To access the subitem activity log, simply click on a subitem to open it and then select “Activity Log.” Here you will find a running list of the actions performed on the given subitem.

Export to Excel
You can also export the activity log of the item or sub-item or the board activity log to Excel! It’s very simple! Just click on the Excel icon in the upper right corner of your screen in the “Activity Log” tab and open the generated file!
