We all make mistakes sometimes. It happens! Luckily, monday.com has an undo button for that.

What is the return button?

The undo button will appear at the top of the screen and give you one full minute to undo your last change. It looks like this:

You will see this option whenever you:

  • Deletes or archives an item, group, column, or board
  • Moves an item to another group or board

Note: The Revert button will not appear for changes to column values, or updates added to an item. If you have made changes to column values ​​for multiple items using Batch Actions, you can understand what changed and manually revert previous values ​​using the Activity Log.
Interesting use case: Many monday.com users use the undo button to manage complex projects in real time. For example, teams working on software development can quickly iterate on changes to the code or project structure, allowing them to try new ideas without fear of losing previous work.

I deleted or mixed something up by mistake.

If you accidentally deleted an item and the undo button is no longer active, don’t worry—you can still find deleted items, groups, columns, and boards from the last thirty days in the Trash area!

If you accidentally assembled an item, you can restore it at any time from the archive. In this article, we’ll cover how to assemble and restore a group, item, or board!

Recovering data after moving items to another board

Have you moved items from one board to another and lost some column data in the process? Don’t worry, we can get it back!

Open the board you moved your items to. Then, open Activity Log and click the restore button as shown below, then your items as well as all columns will be restored to your original board.

Note: The option to restore data using the activity as shown above is only available for one month from the time the items were transferred.

In the future, it’s important to make sure you create the same columns in the target board before moving your items to avoid data loss. If some columns appear to be mismatched, we’ll display a warning message:
