Internship – 3-part course series

This specialization offers tools and resources created as part of the International Development Bank’s (IDB) “Soviet” initiative, with the aim of tackling climate change and improving the sustainability of the planet.

During the three courses that make up the specialization, you will learn what can be done as individuals, as educational institutions, and as a community to live more sustainable and healthier lives, the key ethical and social questions of climate change, how to use games to support and enhance learning, and the main impacts of climate change on water, energy, landscape, land, and our health.

Target audience

This program is intended for teachers in primary and secondary schools in Latin American and Caribbean countries who teach science and topics related to climate change and the environment.

Hands-on Learning Project

The aim of this program is to promote actions to mitigate the impacts and adapt to climate change in their schools. To achieve this goal, participants will be required to develop at least one specific activity:

  • Conduct an analysis of the conditions at the school.
  • Develop an action plan to reduce their school community’s climate footprint (for example, reducing water use, encouraging the use of sustainable energy sources in school, reducing waste use in school, or encouraging responsible consumption of materials).
  • Develop a risk reduction plan in the school community, with the aim of acclimatizing to climate change.
