Every government agency collects and stores millions of data points to fulfill administrative and legal duties, allocate resources, and make decisions. Public sector professionals need the skills to accurately interpret the data and inform managers and decision makers about its meaning.
This specialization will give you basic technical skills in the R programming language, enabling you to collect, transform, analyze, visualize, and interpret data to inform public policy and public administration functions. Over four courses, you will gain new skills using popular Tidyverse packages, such as dplyr for data transformation and ggplot for visualization.
This course series is suitable for public sector professionals, who are currently working or just starting out, who are interested in acquiring skills in analyzing public data effectively.
There are no prerequisites, but it is recommended that you have programming experience, preferably in R, and a basic understanding of statistical concepts. The Google Professional Data Analytics Certificate offers these foundational skills. You will receive a dual badge when you complete the Google Career Certificate and this specialization.
There is an opportunity to practice all your R skills through hands-on exercises in each course. In the final exercise of the fourth course, participants will analyze data as part of a policy options analysis, create a visualization of the analysis results, and make a recommendation based on the results.
