Internship – a four-part course series

This internship is designed for English as a Foreign Language teachers and prospective teachers who are interested in making their lessons more effective and enjoyable. You will learn how to use videos and online activities created by Hebrew teachers at the University of California, Irvine, to teach intermediate English learners. You will review the pedagogy of language learning and the best practices for using these resources effectively. This internship will give any English teacher plenty of creative ideas for their classroom.

Hands-on Learning Project

In the final project, you will create a portfolio that includes all of the following for one specific intermediate grammar point:

  • Lesson plan for grammar point
  • A video where you teach the grammar point
  • Exercise or related activity
  • Informal assessment
  • Formal assessment

You will apply all the skills you have learned in the previous three courses. Finally, you will share your portfolio with other learners to showcase the skills you have learned, and you will have the opportunity to learn from others while providing feedback on their portfolios.

After completing this course, you will have the skills needed to effectively create lesson plans, exercises, and assessments needed to teach grammar to intermediate-level students. Students in this course should be able to create a video using a webcam, camcorder, or smartphone and upload the video files or share the video as a link.
