You will understand the principles of project planning through the use of time management software. You will build project requirements, goals, and objectives before considering the overall scope of work using the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Course 2 • 46 hours
Successful projects don’t just happen; they are planned. Understanding what success means for a particular project is part of the process. You’ll understand how to measure success. Does your project need outside help or materials? If so, will you know what type of contract will support your success? Once you understand these basics and know how to identify the risks you face, you can begin to consider setting a schedule and budget for your project. This course will help you understand the critical basics of project planning so that when it’s time to set a schedule and budget, you’ll be well-informed.
Course 3 • 41 hours
Executing a project involves many challenges, and a good project needs to know how to execute projects and adapt to changes that may affect project plans using both traditional and agile project management methods. In this course, the student will determine and manage the project work and knowledge for it.
Course 4 • 48 hours
Managing multiple projects presents different challenges compared to managing a single project. This course builds on the knowledge and skills that the project manager has acquired so far in the areas of project cycles, time, cost, risk, human resources, leadership, and team building. In this course, you will be able to experiment and take part in group exercises.
This course dives into the project management process and knowledge areas produced in the NPMBOK® Guide and extends them to managing multiple projects. Skills also include appropriate and available communication, and the acquisition of advanced and effective management skills. You will learn to manage multiple companies, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources intelligently. You will explore planning techniques that will allow you to balance resource utilization with project risks, achieving a sufficient level of responsiveness to meet the needs of industries at risk. We will also learn the foundation of project portfolio management, program management, and Agile Scrum project management techniques.
You will return to a group program in a Coursera course. Depending on the size of the class, the number and size of groups may vary. Additional members may join or drop out of your group during registration. Therefore, it is important to understand that if you join a regular team, you will need to manage the completion of project activities with possible changes in the group.
