Specialization in Data Science for Health Research

The specialization is a 3-part course series in data science for health research. The courses will teach you how to organize and visualize health data using statistical analysis in programs like R.

The courses will reveal how to:

  • Translate data
  • Decode statistical models
  • Predict results

Goal: To assist in data-based decision-making in the field of public health.

Applied Learning Project

In Course 1, learners will summarize data from a global survey on financial account ownership (Global Findex database) and reconstruct a table and figure from the 2017 Global Findex database report.

In Courses 2 and 3, learners will analyze synthetic data related to common risk factors and heart disease in the Indian population.

The learning process

The learning process for this course will typically progress through the following steps:

  • Learning about ideas through lecture videos.
  • Implementing the ideas in the video is a guided practice.
  • Repeat the steps for most topics in the lesson.
  • Self-empowerment through independent Bible guides.
  • Practice comprehension through ungraded quizzes and dialogues.
