Healthcare is an exciting and ever-expanding field that can take you in a wide variety of directions. You can apply the basic knowledge you learn here about acute care, patient stabilization, and disease processes to become a paramedic or pursue other healthcare careers.
In this specialization, you will learn how to provide care to stable and unstable patients before they arrive at the hospital, how to identify illnesses that require urgent care, and medical and traumatic conditions that affect both adults and children.
Essential skills are demonstrated throughout the internship. Finally, you will be able to apply course material to real patient situations in a capstone project to prepare you for national licensing exams.
In each course, learners will face a number of medical situations that will challenge them to apply the concepts and skills they have learned. In the capstone projects, learners will apply and summarize everything they have learned in courses 1 through 5 across three medical situations similar to what they will experience on the national licensing exam.
In this course, you will receive an in-depth introduction to the emergency medical services system, learning the fundamentals of how it all works. You will also learn the basics of being a healthcare provider, and gain basic knowledge of the human body.
