This specialization provides individual investors and money managers with the tools they need to develop and test their own trading strategies. Upon completion of the specialization, you will be ready to implement eight ready-made trading strategies, based on in-depth academic research that have proven their effectiveness. In addition, you will be able to design your own trading strategy, conduct backtests, and measure its performance.
In the final project, learners will be able to design a new trading strategy and evaluate it using the tools learned in the course. They will also be able to integrate it with their existing portfolio and develop a plan to start a hedge fund.

The goal of the course is to provide you with the knowledge required to understand companies’ financial statements and understand the various transactions that occur in the capital market, so that you can reproduce the strategies revealed in existing academic literature.

In the first part of the course, you will learn to read academic research. We will talk about which parts to look at and which parts to skip quickly. For each strategy, you will first learn about the original research and then how to implement the strategy.

This course will provide backtesting results for all strategies in both developed and emerging markets. The learner will also learn scientific ways to conduct backtesting without succumbing to biases such as survivorship bias or forward-looking statements.
