Specializing in rapid prototyping and tools, students learn how to make an efficient prototype.
Why is expedited preparation important, and how does it facilitate the overall engineering design process?
At what stage in the process should you use accelerated preparation?
How can electronics advance a prototype to the next level?
When is it appropriate to make a prototype from Styrofoam rather than aluminum?
When should you use 3D printing rather than a laser cutter?
Realistic examples
They provide answers to such questions and highlight the best ways to use various materials and production equipment.
Overview of the internship
Here you can see an overview of the internship from Dr. Frank.
Hands-on Learning Project
In this specialization, you will complete quizzes that will help you assess your understanding of accelerated preparation and tools.
In addition, you will complete a project at the end of the internship that tests you, in which you will use everything you learned in these three courses to create a rapid prototype that will solve a real-world problem.
You will use the engineering design process to identify the need and define the problem.
Then, you will brainstorm different ideas, create a simple prototype, and test it before making a more advanced, rapid prototype.
