Cryptocurrency deposits are very different from fiat deposits, as they are made on the blockchain. There are a few key points to keep in mind to make depositing crypto to the CEX.IO platform easier.

  • Check your deposit address before any new action. Sometimes, due to ongoing internal and network improvements, your CEX.IO wallet address may change. Using the old address may result in loss of funds as inactive wallets cannot be accessed.

  • For the same reason, you should avoid using your CEX.IO wallet to receive mining rewards.

  • Your deposit amount must be equal to or greater than the required minimum. A smaller amount cannot be deducted from your wallet for technical reasons. Information on the required minimum amounts can be found on the Limits and Fees page.

  • Double check the currency you are sending.

If you use an address that doesn’t match the correct currency, the transaction won’t reach its destination and you won’t be able to recover your funds. For example, BCH can’t be credited to a BTC wallet, just as Ethereum-based tokens can be lost when sent to an ETH wallet.

Check how many approvals are required for each crypto transaction to reach your CEX.IO wallet.

Here are some helpful tips for depositing certain cryptocurrencies to the CEX.IO platform:

Litecoin (LTC)

Your address for LTC on CEX.IO is in P2SH format (starting with “M”). However, some crypto platforms do not yet support transactions to these new addresses. In this case, you can use the LTC address converter and use the old format (the one starting with “3”) for your wallet address.

* Litecoin addresses are similar to BTC addresses. To resolve the confusion, the Litecoin community has developed a new wallet format (P2SH) that starts with an M. Such wallets only work on the Litecoin network and are not valid for Bitcoin.

Tether (USDT)

CEX.IO supports USDT deposits via Ethereum, Binancesmartchain, Tron, and Solana Blockchain. Attempting to deposit USDT via another blockchain to CEX.IO will result in a failed deposit and loss of funds.

Note that USDT ERC-20 wallet addresses start with “0x”, BEP-20 addresses also start with “0x”, and TRC-20 addresses start with “T”.

Stellar (XLM)

Stellar wallets have a special Memo ID or text. When sending XLM to your CEX.IO account, be sure to include the correct Memo ID. An incorrect or missing Memo ID may result in processing delays or loss of funds.

Some Stellar wallets require an initial deposit to become active. However, this is not required for your CEX.IO wallet.

Ripple (XRP)

When depositing XRP to CEX.IO, a Destination tag is required to associate your transaction with your account. This tag can be found on the deposit page along with your deposit address.

If you forget the tag, it will be difficult to recover your funds. In the event that you enter an incorrect tag, your funds will be sent to another recipient.

Cosmos (ATOM)

Each ATOM wallet includes a special Memo ID that must be included when depositing to CEX.IO.

Your personal Memo ID can be found along with your wallet address on the deposit page. Please note that a missing or incorrect Memo ID may lead to loss of funds.

Neo (NEO)

Unlike most cryptocurrencies, NEO does not have decimal numbers. When sending NEO to your CEX.IO account, only whole numbers should be used.

If you send amounts with decimal values, you will lose the fractional part of your transaction. For example, when you enter 2.04 as the deposit amount, you will only receive 2 NEO in your CEX.IO Community balance. The remaining 0.04 NEO will be withdrawn from your wallet and remain on the network.

TRON (TRX)

CEX.IO does not support the Ethereum-based version of the TRON token. Only a TRC-20* compatible wallet should be used to deposit to CEX.IO. Attempting to deposit Ethereum-based (ERC-20) TRX to a CEX.IO wallet may result in a failed transaction and loss of funds.

* TRC-20 wallets start with “T” and ERC-20 wallets start with “0x”.

Tezos (XTZ)

Your CEX.IO wallet for XTZ has an explicit account address (starting with “tz”). This wallet is for cooking and does not support smart transactions (or proxy). There is another XTZ wallet format for proxy (smart transactions) that starts with “KT”. Cross-wallet transactions are not supported, so make sure you are sending funds from a TZ wallet.

Kava.io (KAVA)

KAVA wallets have a special Memo ID. To send KAVA to your CEX.IO account, the correct Memo ID must be included. An incorrect or missing Memo ID may result in processing delays or loss of funds.

Kusama (KSM)

KSM funds cannot be transferred between CEX.IO users, only external addresses are accepted.

Sei (SEI)

Each SEI wallet has a unique Memo ID that must be included when depositing funds to CEX.IO. Be sure to check your Memo ID before initiating a deposit. Failure to include the correct ID may result in loss of funds.

Celestia (TIA)

Injective (INJ)

When depositing INJ via the Injective network to CEX.IO, a Memo ID is required. Double check which Memo ID should be included to ensure the transaction goes through successfully.

dYdX (DYDX)

A Memo ID is required when depositing DYDX via the Dydx network to CEX.IO. Be sure to check which Memo ID needs to be included to complete the transaction properly.
