How to manually connect a domain to Shopify
The Shopify platform allows its users to connect an existing domain to their online store. To do this manually and adapt the domain to the platform, follow these steps:
1. Preparing to connect a domain
First, make sure you know your domain’s login information and DNS information. This information is usually found in your domain provider’s account.
2. Change DNS settings
- Open your domain provider account.
- Look for the settings for your domain’s DNS.
- Update the CNAME to point to
shops.myshopify.com. - Update the A Record to point to the IP address
23.227.38.65.
Changes may take up to 48 hours to take effect.
3. Adding a domain to Shopify
- Log in to the Shopify platform dashboard.
- Click on “Online Store” and then on “Domains”.
- Select “Connect an existing domain option.”
- Enter the domain name you want to connect and click “Next”.
- Follow the steps on the screen to confirm the domain changes.
Troubleshooting
If the domain is not working properly after you have set it up, you may need to check if the DNS is set up correctly or contact your domain provider’s support team for assistance. Once all these steps have been successfully completed, your online store will become accessible through the domain you have set up.
