Tidio offers a tool for creating and scheduling email campaigns, for example, for marketing purposes. With the campaign builder, you can send content-rich emails to your Tidio contacts, and check the results after the campaign is over.

The campaign section

The Campaigns section can be accessed from the main menu, on the left side of your Tidio dashboard. Inside, you’ll see three main tabs: Templates , Automations , and My Campaigns . You’ll also see additional shortcuts: Contact Management and Domain Settings , which will help you quickly get to the appropriate settings.

You can scroll through the tabs to manage all existing aspects of your email campaigns in Tidio.

Templates

In this tab, you can see all the templates available for campaigns, organized by general goals: increasing sales, discounts, holidays, etc. You can also see a list of the custom templates you’ve created, and they’ll appear there after you convert a few.

From the top right, you can also create new campaigns (or campaign templates) from scratch.

You can expand each list by clicking on it, and you will be shown the available templates:

At the top, you can use certain filters to change the view – for example, if you want to see only templates for a specific industry:

Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 15.36.14.png

By clicking on a template, you can select it – and enter campaign editing, which will allow you to change all the content so that your campaign is ready to send. You can also hit preview to take a quick look at what the template looks like.

During the editing process, you can save your changes as a new custom template for later use. You can see this under the “More” button in the top right corner:

Automations

In this tab, you can see the automations available for email. Typically, you’ll only see the Welcome New Subscriber flow, which automatically welcomes any new subscriber added to your Tidio contact list. If you’re integrated with Shopify, you’ll also see the Incomplete Cart Reminder , which emails customers who left something in their cart and didn’t make a purchase.

My campaigns

In this tab, you will find all the campaigns you have already added, both regular (manually managed) and automated. From here, you can check the campaign name, status, results (recipients, success rate, etc.), as well as edit, view, delete, or duplicate the campaigns. You also have the option to view only a specific type of campaign, or sort the campaigns by status (e.g., sent, scheduled, draft, etc.).

Create and send a new campaign

To start creating a new campaign, you must select one of the templates (which appear in the Templates tab, as described above), or use the Create New Campaign button in the upper right (available in both the Templates tab and the My Campaigns tab).

Once you do this, you will be taken to the campaign creation tool, which contains two steps: Edit Content and Settings .

Content editing

The first step is where you build the content of your campaign. If you’re using a pre-built template, you’ll already see everything ready, ready to be modified to suit your needs; if you’re building a new campaign (or custom template) from scratch, you’ll start with a blank canvas.

Screenshot 2024-05-07 at 15.42.45.png

The campaign editor is a powerful tool, allowing you to decide on the overall structure of the email, but also the details of each individual element. You can add and customize various blocks, including images, text, interactive buttons, or even HTML code.

The editor lets you decide how certain elements are displayed on both desktop and mobile, so you can make sure your campaign looks its best to all recipients. You can also preview your campaign at any time.

Settings

In the second step, you’ll choose the name of your campaign (this is how it will appear in your campaigns section), the subject of the email (what your recipients will see), and the audience . Finally, you’ll also see an option to schedule your campaign or send it immediately, after reviewing the summary .

Screenshot 2024-05-07 at 15.43.37.png

You can also see the current selected sender address , so you can make sure the address is displayed according to your preferences.

Aside from the content of the email itself, the audience is the most important aspect to set up. Here you will select the intended recipients for your campaign. You can choose a general recipient group (e.g.: All Users or Subscribers ), or even import contacts from a file:

Set restrictions with several available filters (e.g. country, date added, etc.):

You can also easily import them with a .csv file:

Submitting your campaign

The final step is to send the campaign immediately – or schedule it for a later date:

After selecting the Choose a specific time option, you can specify a future date and time. You can see more details about scheduling campaigns in this article.

Finally, you can confirm all your choices. You can choose to run the campaigns immediately or send a suitability test first. By using the Send Test option, your current campaign will be sent to only one recipient – yourself. The campaign will be sent to the email address you use as your Tidio login.

Click the Continue button to complete the process and send your campaign; it must first be checked for spam.

Create your own email templates

In addition to using existing templates and creating new campaigns from scratch, you can also create your own templates. This way, you can design reusable campaigns that will serve as a practical starting point for later.

To start working on a new template, click the Add Custom Template button on the top right of the Templates tab:

Once you click the button, you’ll be taken to the campaign builder – the same tool as before, used to edit or create campaigns in general:

Screenshot 2024-05-07 at 15.42.18.png

When you finish creating and saving your template, it will be available in the Templates tab, under the list of custom templates – where you can use it immediately, or change the content and name, duplicate the template, or delete it:

Set up automated email flows with the flow editor

Besides using the Campaign Builder directly for your campaigns, you can also take advantage of the Flow Editor (in the Flows section of your Tidio dashboard). This allows you to create custom automated campaign flows, and manage them from there as well.

You can add the Send Email action to any flow you want, and choose the Rich Content option – which allows you to select any existing campaign, or even create new campaigns directly from the flow editor:

Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 18.15.19.png

The Send Email action allows you to easily scroll through the available templates, add new campaigns from scratch, or modify the currently selected campaign.

Each time you select one of these options, you’ll be taken to the campaign tools to do what you need to do – without interrupting the process of building your flow. Once you’re done, you’ll be taken back to the flow editor to finish the flow.

You will see the campaign you have chosen for this purpose, along with all the relevant details; you will also be able to view the campaign, edit it, or replace it with a different template:

Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 18.26.04.png

When you return to the My Campaigns tab, you’ll notice that the automated flow is listed, just like any other campaign you’ve added. For your convenience, the flow name is included, as well as the option to edit the flow again.

Checking your campaign results

One of the important aspects of any campaign is the ability to see its performance. In the My Campaigns tab, you can do this: check the status and statistics of each campaign, such as the number of intended recipients or the success rate. Naturally, this data is only possible for campaigns that have already been sent.

Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 18.36.59.png

In addition to seeing the raw data in the columns, you can click on any visible numbers to access more detailed information – such as a list of specific recipients who opened the email, or unsubscribed, etc. This way you can extract additional value from the campaign results.

Screenshot 2023-11-17 at 19.01.14.png

The Create Segment option can also prove to be particularly useful, as it allows you to save the selected recipient list as a separate segment in your contact list. Creating a segment allows you to quickly select a specific group of recipients, and better design future campaigns – improving user engagement and increasing your sales. You can learn more about segments (and using your contact list in general) here.

See a list of available campaign statistics below:

situation

The status describes the current state of your campaign. It can be already sent or planned, but it can also be currently being sent, or in the process of being verified. If the campaign is still just a draft, this will also be reflected in the statistics. If any errors occurred, or if the campaign was rejected by the system for some reason, the status will also reflect this.

Sales Assistant

If your Tidio account is integrated with Shopify, this column will show the number of sales associated with your campaigns. If you would like to learn more about calculating conversions in Tidio, please check out this article.

Recipients

The total number of recipients the campaign targeted. This is the audience you selected for this campaign.

Sent

Number and percentage of emails sent successfully.

Opened

The number and percentage of emails opened by recipients.

Pressed

The number and percentage of emails in which the recipient clicked on a link or button within the campaign.

Cancel subscription

The number and percentage of subscribers who canceled their subscription from the specific campaign.

Setting up your domain for campaigns

Besides using a nickname of your choice for campaigns (with the domain @tidiomailing.com), you can also use your own domains . This feature can help your emails look more professional overall, but also prevent common issues with emails reaching your customers and subscribers.

You can configure your domains in Settings.> Domains , later select the available domains in Settings> Campaigns . You can see more details about this process in this article.

Adding your physical address (for legal purposes)

Your business’s physical address is required to ensure your email complies with international anti-spam laws (including CAN-SPAM and GDPR). You can set the address in the Settings section.> Campaigns .

The address will appear at the bottom of emails sent through Tidio. To learn more about this requirement, please see our Terms and Conditions .
