How to connect with a domain provider on Shopify

How to contact your domain provider to connect to Shopify

To connect your existing domain to the Shopify platform, you may need to contact your domain provider to update your DNS settings. Here are some general steps to help with this process:

Check the domain provider information

First, find the contact information for your domain provider. This information will usually be listed on the provider’s website under “Support” or “Contact Us.” If you have a user account, you can check the relevant information there.

Contact your domain provider’s customer service.

Once you’ve found a way to contact the vendor, contact them via the means they offer – whether via phone, email, or live chat. When contacting them, make sure you have your identifying information and the domain you want to connect to Shopify.

Explain the need to update DNS settings

Ask your domain provider to make the following changes to your DNS settings:

  • Point the A record to Shopify’s IP address: 23.227.38.65
  • Add or update the CNAME record to point to shops.myshopify.com

Please note that updating DNS settings may take up to 48 hours to fully update.

Completing the Shopify connection

Once your domain provider has made the changes, you can manually check your Shopify account to make sure the domain is connected properly. If you have any issues or it’s taking longer than expected, we recommend double-checking your settings or contacting your provider’s support again.

For additional questions or if you need further assistance, you can contact Shopify support through the Help Center on the Shopify website.
