To add your own domain to Shopify, follow these steps:
Purchase a custom domain
You can buy a custom domain directly through Shopify or through a third-party domain provider. After purchasing your domain, it’s important to make sure that the connection between your domain and Shopify is set up correctly.
Link a domain to Shopify
If the domain was purchased outside of the Shopify platform, it must be added to your Shopify account. To do this:
- Open the domain settings in your account and add the new domain there.
- Follow the instructions to verify and connect the domain to the Shopify platform.
- There are two DNS changes that need to be set up: an A record for Shopify’s IP address and a CNAME record for shop.myshopify.com.
Make sure the domain is correctly identified.
Once you’ve connected your domain to Shopify, you’ll need to verify that your website is available and accessible through the new domain. DNS changes can typically take up to 48 hours to fully update.
