Native CRO is the native currency of the Cronos POS chain, which allows you to make near-instant CRO transactions with minimal fees. ERC20 CRO tokens are created and hosted on the Ethereum network, where ETH network fees are required to execute crypto transactions. Cronos POS Chain is a public, open-source, and permissionless blockchain network – a fully decentralized network with high speed and low fees, designed to be a public tool that facilitates the mass adoption of blockchain technology through use cases such as Payments, DeFi, and NFTs. Cronos POS Chain offers the following offerings: For more information about Cronos POS Chain click here. Native CRO and ERC20 CRO are different crypto assets, even though they share the same token name, symbol, and fiat value (1 Native CRO = 1 ERC20 CRO), make sure you understand the differences and confirm with your recipient or the receiving wallet when making CRO transactions.

recipient:- Ask your recipient if there is a memo for the Native CRO address.
– Was the recipient address created by a centralized or decentralized wallet? (The recipient will receive the “recovery word” if it is a decentralized wallet, in which case a memo is not required). – If you are still unsure, we recommend sending a small amount for testing to ensure that the recipient can receive the crypto. We will not be able to locate/reverse the funds if you do not include the memo when sending the Native CRO to a central wallet. How do I convert the ERC20 to Native CRO via Crypto.com Onchain? To convert your ERC20 CRO to Native CRO on Onchain Crypto.com, please follow the instructions of the CRO transfer tool in the app. Note that the native CRO cannot be converted back to ERC20 CRO through the CRO migration tool, so carefully consider your use cases before moving:

  • Native CRO is required for Cronos POS Chain Staking via Earn
  • ERC20 CRO is required to make a SWAP on the Ethereum network

If by any chance the native CRO needs to be converted back to ERC20 CRO, a temporary solution would be to deposit the native CRO on our main platforms – Crypto.com or exchange app and choose to withdraw CRO as ERC20 tokens.
